This was an entry I started the beginning of this past week, but b/c the rich text option wasnapos;t appearing, I didnapos;t really want to deal w/it. LoL So I kept checking to see when my LJ wasnapos;t acting all weird, which happens to be today (or maybe yesterday, I didnapos;t check it then).

Aaaallllriiiight.

Well, firstly, I started my new job this past week.

I really like it a lot so far.

Perks:

EVERYTHING.

I get paid a lot more than I did @ 7Up, I get vacation/sick days a lot sooner, I get off @ 4:30, so I can still go to McNellieapos;s on Wednesdays (which was something I was kind of bummed about probably not being able to do), the dress code isnapos;t ridiculous, the people seem a lot more fun so far -more like a family, not so much like most of them just do what they need to do, then go home.

Everyone seems to really like me, which is amusing. My boss, Angela, was telling me that Jackie (her assistant) was really excited about them hiring me. She sat in on my interview I guess she liked me best of all of the girls/women interviewed. I made a joke about being bad luck b/c of a fire alarm going off (youapos;ll read about that in a minute) Angie said, "well, Jackie seems to think youapos;re good luck. She kept saying, apos;when are you going to hire Amanda, when are you going to hire Amanda?apos;" Hee hee Awesome. Iapos;m glad Iapos;m fitting in well.

A couple exciting things, too, the lady (Jackie) whoapos;s been training me the most was telling me about this woman down near the lobby who sells sandwiches stuff for lunch. She has a different special every day. Jackie said she wasnapos;t sure what Mondayapos;s was, but she didnapos;t think it was something very good.

Well, later on, there was a fire drill. Well, not so much a drill as much as someone pulling the alarm or something, but anyway. Apparently, that hasnapos;t happened in a long time. Kind of funny it happens on my first day. But on the way back to the elevators, we passed the area that the sandwich lady sets up shop in. She had a bulletin board telling what the special of the day was: grilled chicken sandwich w/avocado, lettuce, tomato. 8-) PERFECT. That was when I decided Iapos;d really like working there. Ha ha

And also, I found out on Thursday that not only are we allowed to dress up on Halloween, weapos;re encouraged Each dept. Group usually has a theme, apparently, they have a costume contest AND a contest for best decorated cubicle. Pretty flippinapos; awesome, right? Oh, there are "food" days every few weeks, I think, where people are encouraged to bring food share w/their group (section of the dept.) On friday, Angie brought guacamole. I was so excited. Chelsea (the other 21 yr. Old in the office) I sat in my cubicle ate it w/chips, while talking about apts. roommates just getting to know each other a little better. She was one of the first people I really talked to after starting. Sheapos;s on the welcome committee, so she shows new employees around. When she found out we were the same age, she seemed relieved. Most people in our office are about five yrs. Older, @ least.

But yeah, an avocado-friendly workplace has my support, all the way. LoL

Iapos;m excited about this job. I really think Iapos;ll like it. Itapos;s a lot busier than my old job, but I enjoy a challenge staying busy, for sure.
